I can't believe it's already September. This year is flying by...
Anyway, we've decided to make a new addition to the blog called "What's on the Menu." It's definitely something that we're going to try and keep up with on a weekly basis as a way to compliment "The Weekend Bites." Plus, it gives us something to post on Fridays when we may not have a "Food 4 Thought" readily available.
Basically, it's like a preview/prediction post -- we're going to give a brief spotlight to some of the movies that we think are worth checking out opening on the weekend. And since we can't cover EVERY movie, this will give you an idea of what's coming out and what might be worth checking out. So without further adieu... Check out what's on the menu for this weekend:

1. EXTRACT - This is probably the only movie I'm going to check out this weekend. It's another Mike Judge comedy (the creative genius behind King of the Hill and Office Space). It features a pretty phenomenal cast, starring Jason Bateman (Arrested Development), Mila Kunis (That 70s Show and Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Kristen Wiig (SNL), and Ben Affleck (Good Will Hunting and Daredevil). I'd give you a synopsis, but I don't really know what it's entirely about, but we did get to see their panel at SDCC and they sold me. It looks funny and may be the only movie opening this weekend with the most promise.

2. Gamer - Star Gerard Butler (300) and Terry Crews (White Chicks), and as far as I can tell this movie looks ridiculous, but some of my cohorts may disagree. From what I've gathered, it's about convicted felons being used as avatars to be played in a video game. It really looks like Deathrace part II to me. It doesn't look entirely great, but at the very least, it'll hopefully be entertaining.
and finally...

3. All About Steve - this just looks terrible. But I guess now is the season for terrible movies to come out, so their timing is impeccable. It stars Bradley Cooper, who I really like, and Sandra Bullock, who I'm really over. It just looks like another failed attempt to make a raunchy rom-com, with no real promise. Even the promos for this movie looked terrible. But I could be entirely wrong. If you happen to catch this movie, and I'm wrong, feel free to let me know and I'll add it to my Netflix queue.

I saw a clip from All About Steve when Bradley Cooper did an interview on...Conan? Letterman? Don't remember. But it looked pretty funny. I'm a fan of both of them and if it's anywhere as enjoyable as The Proposal, then I'm sold. Then again, I'm what they're aiming for. A girl. lol
